Kurz Scuba Rescue Diver je jedným z najlepších spôsobov, ako sa naučiť, ako riešiť núdzové situácie pri potápaní. Vo výcvikovom systéme PSS sú však ďalšie dva kurzy venované záchrane: Prvá pomoc – KPR a Oxygen in Diving Emergency. Prvý má všeobecné využitie, zatiaľ čo druhý sa zaoberá podávaním normobarického kyslíka zranenému potápačovi. Tieto tri kurzy sa preto dopĺňajú a sú navrhnuté tak, aby sa zaoberali scenármi spojenými s núdzovým potápaním.
